Demon of Desire reviewed as a You Gotta Read

Well I was waiting on tether hooks for my first review to come out, and it finally did...

You Gotta Read Reviews says Demon of Desire is a You Gotta Read!
Needless to say I was blown away, and very happy. Thank you, You Gotta Read Reviews!

Review from Robin:" After reading this story, you will question what you desire and if it is really worth getting that desire in the end. Sarah wants to be swept away for a night of passion. However, getting this night could cost her her true hearts desire, love and acceptance. Will she end up with her true hearts desire? Please read to find out, you will not be disappointed..

There are a few scenes some people might find offensive. I felt in order for this story to be told they needed to be written. I'm looking forward reading more of Chloe Waits work in the future. I can't wait to see what issues she tackles next. "

Demon of Desire...the book, and now the song( by Dead is Better)

Floating around myspace I have made some great friends--among the most recent a kick ass Alt Goth Rock band, Dead is Better, featuring the wicked bass lines of the beautiful Yu Mei.

The seductive spell of their music is intoxicating, and I was tickled pink to hear that in liking the title Demon of Desire, they wanted to use it for one of their songs.

You can enjoy them on myspace by clicking this link: Dead is Better.

The ""You are a Great Read Award"

Well I was away this weekend, then scrambling madly to do updates since "Demon of Desire" went live yesterday. In the midst of the excitement, I was honoured (yes that's Canadian spelling ho ho) with the "You are a great Read Award" by the profound passionate pen of Jude Mason (I am using Canadian spelling for my fellow Canadian author).
Oh, the blushes!
Thank you Jude!
So I will do the required top ten list, with my favourite (spelling again!)
Indian dishes...

1. Butter Chicken (just think about the name...yum)
2. Malai Kofta (cream sauce, nut and veggie dumplings)
3. Chicken Tikka (arrives simmering on a metal plate)
4. Matter paneer (spicy tomato based peas and cheese)
5. Curry Beef (spicy fragrant beef)
6. Curry Goat (the only time I have eaten goat...)
7. Aloo Gobi (spicy potatoes and cauliflower)
8. Curry chicken (spicy chicken)
9. naan bread (not techniquely a dish but very necessary to scoop up sauces)
10. Pulao rice (same function as naan bread)

And now, I get to bestow this honour on ten others as the gracious recipient of it...

Brenna Lyons, Leigh Ellwood, Marie Rochelle, Stephanie Morris, Jae Knight, Bridget Midway,C. Sanchez-Garcia, Robin Glasser, Crymsyn Hart

Please note, you can click on these author's names to get to at least one of their internet dwellings (some have multiple ones) I know you will want to check out their sites and writing!

Demon of Desire out now at Phaze

Demon of Desire

Here is an excerpt for Demon of Desire, out today at Phaze...

Sarah squinted to see the large, looming form of the mystery man from the night before. How had he gotten inside her bedroom? Her apartment was up on the fourth floor, and anyone needed to pass security to enter downstairs. She started to tremble.

This can’t be happening! Am I dreaming?
”You’re not real...are you?” she said shakily.
“Why would you think that,” he replied silkily. “I am quite real to you, am I not?”
The room filled with preternatural light. He was dressed exactly as the night before, down to the white mask hiding part of his face.
“Yes, but...” she breathed. The covers drifted off the bed, leaving her exposed in her silk nightgown. They had moved of their own accord. Was he real? A hallucination? A ghost of some kind?
“Why–why are you here?”
“We’re not finished from the night before.”
In spite of her fear, a heat ignited inside Sarah. The stranger took a step towards her, moving with an easy, feral grace. Her body leaned towards his as the distance closed rapidly between them. Her nipples were tight and drawn out, as though reaching for him. They stood out in sharp relief against the silk of her gown. The lips of her sex swelled with his approach.
Sarah’s nightgown slipped off her shoulders as though unseen hands stripped the garment away. Towering over her now, he took her small hands in his, raising her up to stand in front of him. His movements caused the nightgown to puddle on the floor at her feet.
This wasn’t possible. It must be a dream or something. But if he wasn’t real how was this happening? His lips were so full, curved in a dangerous smile, teeth gleaming.
“How are you doing these things?” she asked tremulously. “Who are you?”
Sarah usually covered her nakedness but his dark gaze mesmerized her, compelled her to expose herself to him. Heat continued to sear through her, quelling some of the panic.
“I have so many names.” His finger traced her jaw lightly, voice sounding jaded and amused.
“Are you a ghost––or something?”
“I am what you need ...and what you asked for.”
Sarah trembled as he tipped her face up to his and devoured her lips in a consuming kiss. She arched against him helplessly as his hands explored her body. On fire, she no longer cared who or what this man was. Only that he was her lover––her perfect, mystery lover.

"Demon of Desire" Countdown begins!

I am so excited as I approach the date of my first release, "Demon of Desire," a Phaze HeatSheet October 5th.

Can you guess with the timing and line name of "Raven" it is Halloween themed release? LOL.

Cover art: Skyla Dawn Cameron

“You must be ready to face all the desires of your heart...and know which ones are real.”

Sarah heard the costume store owner's warning, but didn’t heed it. Tonight of all nights was Hallowe’en - a time of magic and make believe. She has an invite to the largest party in Chicago - in a beautiful Renaissance dress reputed to bring her heart's desire.

Why should she be cautious? After all, where had it gotten her except alone on a Friday night? It certainly hadn’t gotten her a date with her adorable neighbor, Tim.

So when she meets a dark, magnetic man in a mask claiming to know her every desire, she surrenders to his seductions...and for the first time engages in a steamy one night stand with a stranger.

Little does Sarah know that her new lover wants more than one night with her. Much more....

Her every pleasure will be indulged...but at what price?

available October 5th at Phaze

What are your secrets, when the lights go out?

I am very excited about my new release planned for February 2010, a contemporary erotic romance, a Phaze Rocks titled
"Flesh for Fantasy."

Communication has changed throughout the years. Especially how we connect--in business, romance, even sexually. We rely less and less on exchanges face-to-face. That was the idea behind
"Flesh for Fantasy"...

(cover artist: Michelle)

Flesh for Fantasy

Cynthia Stewart has sworn off men. Her heart and libido have both been on the shelf ever since her husband demanded a divorce.

Struggling to attend school to get back the career she put on hold since her marriage, she takes a job as a fantasy operator. The hours are flexible and it pays well. All this talk about fantasies have little effect though on Cynthia - until she meets a man who wants to know hers. All of them.

Opening up her own private thoughts is a big step for Cynthia - yet she can’t resist the man who describes himself like the perfect tall, dark, handsome stranger. And their talks slowly push her personal and sexual and boundaries open.

But Cynthia starts to wonders if this is someone she can truly trust.

Because she has been giving him the blue print, to seduce her for real...

So that is a little teaser, but it brings to mind different questions. When we think we are "safe" - alone, anonymous, are we more ourselves?
Do we strip away the veneer of society and social mores if we think we are free of judgement?
For Cynthia, she is free for the first time to explore what turns her on. Privately, and secretly.

How about you? Have you ever told someone, everything?

ALPHA VS BETA MALE

This is really a companion to my "bad boy" blog. Bad boys are always Alpha males, and we know all about them. They are at the heart of most romances

So what then, are Beta Males? The Urban Dictionary is not kind to Beta males, giving this definition:

An unremarkable, careful man who avoids risk and confrontation. Beta males lack the physical presence, charisma and confidence of the Alpha male.

Others are kinder, calling a Beta male collaborative, supportive and emotionally sensitive, possibly the next in line to the Alpha male in a pack, or a "wing man."

Yet Betas have a place in Romance, too.

They are intelligent, giving and balanced. Sexy but nurturing too.

It would be a mistake to think too black and white about these roles, that one is strong and one is weak.

They both have weaknesses and strengths.

It may be true that Alpha can be too domineering, while beta may forget to fight for what they want. Anything in extremes can magnify their flaws, as well as their qualities.

Beta or Alpha, they are always great heroes in romance.

Have fun writing them. And tell me what you think, Alpha or Beta?

Craving the 'bad boy'?

Not very original I am afraid. This is an age old question women have been faced with, probably since cavemen, when we were clubbed over the head and dragged back to a lair.

Is it biology? Some think it is. That those bad boys, those hard to pin down, hard to hold on to, men that drive us crazy( insane and in lust) are testosterone laden magnets for us, and we women are bio-hardwired to crave those hormones. We could no more stay away from this chemical catnip (meow!) than we could stay away from chocolate after a hard day.

So, perhaps it really isn't our fault.

Except that these oh-so-bad boys, aren't the best partners, usually. We find them sometimes in our friend's beds, tom catting around, out with the boys every night of the week, or otherwise being unreliable. That chase we loved, is the chase we have to keep making to keep them in our lives. If they stick around at all!

My story, Demon of Desire, is a paranormal romance about the ultimate bad boy --a demon. He may be just what my heroine Sarah needs. Because we all know what makes that bad boy so irresistible is that very bad (as in hot!) sex.

Is he able to give her what she wants?

Should she even care?

The question is, do you care? Do you crave the bad boy too? What is your best bad boy story?
Who was the one you couldn't stay away from, even if you should have?

Mine I will call *Joe*. Joe was six feet of man, mixed race and exotic. I don't know what he did for a living. He eventually told me more than one story, but I guess at this point I wonder if it was anything legal. He was an ex-football player and possible bounty hunter. He showed up to my house with a bullet proof vest, and rather vague stories. I should have run then. But when I was in his arms, I thought that was I was put on this Earth for. To be in his arms. As his stories got wilder and wilder, (he told me at one point he was working for the government in some covert way) I was chasing him like a carrot on a string, always out of my reach. He showed up on my door when he wanted, and left when he wanted. Which drove me crazy, having someone but not really having them. It got to the point I wonder if I would have stepped over bodies to get to him. Sounds terrible to say, and I am being somewhat facetious, but that was how hooked I was on him. Hooked on the sex, and the chase. I saw all the signs and ignored them all. I let him lie to me, because the alternative was to call him on it and have him leave. But that was eventually what I did, and what he did.

I was younger then, although old enough to know better. That's an extreme example, but the point is, that bad boys, like too much chocolate, are not always good for us. But they give us something we crave. Excitement, challenge, passion...They're wild and they play by their own rules. They can teach us something. And some are even redeemable.

Let me know your own feelings, or stories, on bad boys!

The Newbie at Phaze! "Demon of Desire" Raven Heat Sheet

Well I am very excited!

Back in February I wrote about the trials and tribulations of writing 'like a demon, about a demon' regarding a short story I was revising. I admitted it was a trial alright, where I was literally ready to throw it out the window, computer and all.

It was worth it though, because I have heard from Phaze Publishing that "Demon of Desire' will be picked up as a Raven Heat Sheet out in October

Cartwheels!

Exotica..a poem

Here's a poem I wrote that was featured on Clean Sheets.

Exotica

hard bone and sinew
the jangle of heavy piercings
what exotic land have I entered
with a painted man?

ink trails over arms
maps to follow
distant chants of
tribal rhythms on his back

new territory to learn
with fingertips
with breath and tongue
the hard velvet of hair
springing texture of flesh -

savor this place,
branded in memory -
a token of this trip
the aftertaste of metallic rings
the imprint of lips that stay
tattooed on my skin

Muse is sometimes napping

I have been writing like a demon...about a demon. I dusted off a short story, and went about editing and revising it...even rewriting it at times...one minute loving it, hating it and ready to give up on it.

Meanwhile, another story I had that I had put aside, one I felt was not my strongest, I actually enjoyed reading again. I had to tweak it, but it came pretty easy. I am now excitedly revising it.

Sometimes I have to put something aside, and pick it up again. I literally need time away from projects. I guess I am not the only writer who feels this way. It's possible to fall in love and want to kill off your characters minutes later! Oh fickle muse!

Chloe: Blogging at Last? Coming Together: At Last!

Naughty Naughty Chloe! Kind of started and abandoned my blog for a bit. Some that know me, know my job satisfaction is low - I took the safe route and got a secure job. While paying the bills,
I regret my haste to not pursue my passion. I finally decided to remedy this and get my English degree. So I will be consumed with classes and work, but at this late time in January resolve to find whatever snippets of time to do what I love, which is write. And read.
So many juicy words out there. I am waiting with bated breath for my author copy of Coming Together: At Last so I can turn the lights low and snuggle into a warm bath of sex, love and diversity. Passion for civil rights..Passion for eachother. Perfect.
